Hello, my name is Vehiata Richmond. I’m a teenager from a little island called Tahiti. I’m 18 years old and I graduated from high-school. I have a Bachelor certificate. I’m learning English at the moment and I plan to go to the University of Otago in order to study business. I was born in Tahiti in 1998 and I live with my mother, Magali, who’s a human resources manager, and with my father, Teva who works as a steward on Air France airline. He is a professional paddler in Tahiti. I also have 3 dogs: 1 male called Cookie, and 2 females called Corail and Keshi.

French Polynesia or Tahiti is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. We are Tahitian but also French and we have 2 main languages which are French and Tahitian. My island has beautiful beaches and vahine (= girls/women), awesome views with magnificents sunsets.

My friends think that I have 3 traits of my personality that stand out more than others. Firstly, I’m a good laugh. Why? Simply because I really like laughing. It makes others happy and myself too. I hate boring things so I’m quite crazy when I’m with my friends. Secondly, I’m hard-working. I like when things are well done and I always finish what I began. Furthermore, I also keep myself to myself. I find that it’s important to have privacy sometimes, we all need a secret garden to keep our deepest secrets.

When I have spare time, I often do some sports especially running, fitness and gym. It allows me to undwind. I do a lots of others things when I have free time. My main hobbies are going to the beach with my friends, I go to the sea almost one a week, playing the piano and playing with my pets. The reason why I like playing the piano is that it allows me to escape everything but also I enjoy its sound; it rocks me. Moreover, when I’m too tired to undwind by doing some sport, I play with my dogs.

In my life, I have 2 passions which are Tahitian dance and piano. Both of them allow my mind to escape from all stressful things. Furthermore, I practise Tahitian dance because it’s a tradition. Most Tahitian girls and boys practise it. Further I love the feeling I get from Tahitian dance, those vibes I had when I dance.
